Fleeting moments

Getting ready to play a request for Dave Matthews Band in memory of their incredible sax player Leroi Moore.  Leroi died yesterday at age 46.  46?  Way too early in life!  Leroi died from complications due to an ATV accident in June in Charlottesville Va., the home of the Univ. of Virginia.  The accident occured shortly after DMB’s last performance at Saratoga.  His death caused me to realize how fleeting our life is.  One day, you’re entertaining thousands and rockin in a beautiful venue like SPAC, then you head home, go out for a supposed good time cruising on an ATV, then BAM!  You’re life changes immediately, as well as the lives of your family, friends and everybody in the band.  Leroi had reached the top of his profession, bangin’ out great tunes from his sax with incredible talent, but it wasn’t enough to protect him from tragedy.  Makes you think, huh?

That’s why I’m going to continue today to strive to do what I do everyday: enjoy every possible moment in life.  Whether it be by boating on CA Lake, going to the Kid Rock show tonight at CMAC, or rollin’ south this weekend to enjoy southern hospitality with my former boss Bill Schoening in Charlotte.  I vow to enjoy it all, cuz just like summer, it’s all goes by way too quickly!  The only thing I wish we could speed up is the safe deployment homeward for our beloved troops.  God bless Leroi Moore and our troops!
