The Gold standard
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008How about that Michael Phelps? That’s all you need to say if anybody asks you what you think of the Olympics. It will sound like you know what you’re talking about. Let’s see> 5 attempts, 5 gold medals, 5 world records. 3 to go to beat the single-games record set by Mark Spitz of 7 gold medals at the 1972 Games in Munich. Gotta admit it: I’m cheering for the kid cuz I met Mark Spitz a few years ago at the Hyatt Regency downtown when he was the featured speaker at the Special Olympics Gala. Mark Spitz was a pampered, stuck up, spoiled biatch (italian term). It’s time for someone to take his place in the record books, so c’mon Phelps (not the home of the Sauerkraut Fest on Rt. 96 in Ontario County)! Hope I didn’t jinx Michael Phelps now. Even I can’t ruin it for him…he has an all-time record total of 11 gold, what’s another 3 for this phenom.
Team USA is doing pretty well in Beijing. God bless America and God bless our troops.
